You found the violation. Now what is it worth?

The answer is not in one place. It is spread across the statute, the regulator guidance, the rival method your authority actually applies, the national implementation that overrides the European default, and a settlement record almost nobody has assembled.

These calculators collapse all of it into a form. You describe what happened; they assemble the exposure and show every source they used to get there.

Two tools, one for GDPR and one for US statutory damages, built by Karel Kubicek, PhD (ETH Zurich), Vault JS’s Lead Privacy & AI Researcher. He built both from the text of the laws and the regulator guidance, then benchmarked them against real cases.

Starts from the conduct, not the code

Pick the country, the authority and the legal basis, and the applicable rules assemble themselves instead of being looked up one at a time.

Applies the national layer

Germany ran the DSK concept until May 2023, the ICO applies its own method, Spain discounts for voluntary payment. That layer changes the answer and it is applied for you.

Shows its work

Every rule traces to primary text you can open in two clicks, anchored down to the paragraph. Where something rests on a secondary source it says so.

Tested against real outcomes

Reading the statute tells you the ceiling. Real cases tell you what actually happens. Every method was benchmarked against actual fines and settlements, not just the text.
